Free Game Friday: Hydra Castle Labyrinth

IndieGames.com ran an article a few days ago that detailed a new downloadable game by Japanese developer E. Hashimoto who is also responsible for Akuji the Demon. It’s a Castlevania style platformer that I downloaded as soon as the article ran, but it sat on my Desktop until today when I remembered it was Friday. Castlevania lovers won’t be disappointed by Hydra Castle Labyrinth, as the game scratches that platformer itch that is so rare in today’s world of gaming. You can download it here.
The big plus for me was the game is compatible with the 360 controller right out of the box, so playing really took me back to the days I used to spend in front of the SNES swearing my tiny, juvenile swears at the various platformers I loved. There are multiple power ups and the game offers a save function, so if you’re jonesing for a new platformer to waste an hour or two with, give it a try. For you keyboard users, here are the controls (thanks @Tim on the IndieGames blog):
cursor keys – movement
z – jump
x – attack
c – sub weapon
a – switch weapon
F1 – inventory, status screen
