#03 – Something Western
This week the girls are joined by Mårten Stormdal and Staffan Ahlström of Fatshark to discuss their latest Wild West shooter, Lead & Gold. We also have a look at Eskil Steenberg’s newly released not so massively multiplayer MMO Love and discuss a bit of our experiences while playing the game in beta. We’ve also got some great indie deals for you that don’t expire until March 31st, so check it out!
Love is an interesting game because the servers are designed to handle only 400 people. When compared to massive servers like World of Warcraft that can hold over 5,000, it’s easy to understand why Love is considered a not so massively multiplayer game. However, don’t let the small server size daunt you, the visuals are extremely gorgeous and for just $13.50, you can take part in something beautiful. Check out these recently released screenshots to see what I’m talking about:
It’s an entirely great game that was developed over a period of years by one person and is deserving of your support. Eskil has provided a TeamSpeak server for players as well, so you can jump in and talk to him about the game, as well as other regulars. They’re all great people, so don’t hesitate to check it out and tell them we sent you!
Our one game pick for this week was of course, Lead & Gold. It’s currently available for pre-order from Steam for $13.49 and if you pick it up before April 8th, you’ll get access to the beta, which is what both Mahkia and myself have been playing. The guys and gals at Fatshark have been wonderfully receptive to feedback, which is something I always like to see in a development team.
If you’re still not sold on the game after listening to the interview, then you should probably check out these screenshots, as always, pictures speak louder than words.
As you can see, it’s a beautiful game that is worthy of your attention if you love team-based shooters like Team Fortress 2 or Battlefield. Rambo tactics don’t work in this game and always remember to pick up your team-mates, since XP is the name of the game for ranks. That’s it for this week, we’ll see you next week with more great indie gaming news, deals, and features!
